OLD PHOTOS OF AUTOMOBILES, TRUCKS AND MOTORCYCLES

Click Photos to Enlarge

We are trying to collect many old photos of automobiles, trucks from 1895 to the present. The photos can have men, women, or children in the photos.

CAN YOU HELP US?

Please send us clear, sharp photos or any photos you may have and we will judge whether they can be used. You will be given credit for each photo we use.

WHY?

Work is underway on a pictorial history of old automobiles, trucks and motorcycles, from 1895 to the present. This beautiful pictorial will feature photos of Yesteryear’s automobiles, trucks or motorcycles, and it will allow us to explore the fashions of the era, and the beauty, sensuality, design and form of Yesteryear’s vehicles.

These photos can be found in old photo albums, scrapbooks, in the attic, family history books, old snapshots, slides, etc. of days gone by, in Daguerre-type prints, black and white photos, or even in color. We call these photos, Yesteryear photos.

On the following pages are examples of what has been given to us to compile the pictorial history book.

But we need more, we want to create a legacy, a book where the young and old can cruise through and remember the times. We need your help to bring back these memories and auto stories to inform, delight, and share a laugh about these vintage vehicles. It will be a vintage car lover’s paradise!

Over the years, we’ve been able to collect a few yesteryear’s photos. You can see some of them on the following pages. The legacy project is an ongoing vision, dream and a current art project.

Someone out there have some very early photos of automotive history. It is usually uncovered in faded copies of old black and white photos, and maybe nowadays in color. The lady/man are standing next to their graduation gift, a car. Or a lady is perched proudly in their Sunday best, clutching tiny umbrellas, men clad in towering top hats, accessorized with handlebar moustaches and a pipe clutched in their teeth. But you get away from the city street setting, and it’s dusty coveralls and primitive goggles for all. No pavement, few road signs and a water crossing would be the norm.

Someone out there have in their possession a photo of a lady in a fur jacket, seal coat, duster, but always a fancy hat, or maybe there is a photo of a plumed and furry co-ed, or a man wearing a high collar, goggles, dusters, boots for "cold evening driving" or maybe just a rubberized rubber coat.

Someone out there must have a photo of a motorist lady wearing fashions of the day, the clothes had to withstand the dust when it was dry, the rain when it was wet, and the wind always. Rubberized garments and dust repellers and hats that would stay on the head in the strongest breeze were deemed just as important as lace frills and feathers. The lady could be wearing a striped silk rubberized auto coat with an auto silk veil. Or she could be a lady wearing a full length slicker and a rain hat to repel showers.

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Glad you asked! We are looking for any photos of automobiles, trucks or motorcycles and

NIFTY NASHES. Some called one model, an upside down bath tub-but those who owned them loved them.

ROMANTIC RAGTOPS. Remember when the wind blew through your hair? Remember when we had hair? Time to show and tell.

FAMOUS FOREIGNERS. Did you have a VW "Bug"? A Jaguar, Austin? Any other, early day foreign car?
